Privacy Policy

This policy applies to the Newsette mobile app, the public website at newsette.app, and related support. It does not cover publisher websites that you choose to open from a story.

Your topic, region, language, theme, reading allowance, likes, bookmarks, and saved story details are stored locally on your device. Newsette currently has no account system and does not sync this reading activity to our servers.

You can remove this local information by clearing the app's data or uninstalling the app. Website theme preference may similarly be saved in your browser's local storage.

When the app or website requests a news feed, the request includes your selected country and language. Like most online services, our infrastructure may also process basic request information such as IP address, request time, and technical error data for delivery, reliability, and security.

If you email support, we receive your email address and anything you include in the message so that we can respond.

Newsette uses RevenueCat and your platform's app store to offer and manage Newsette Pro. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app-user identifier and subscription information such as product, entitlement, purchase, renewal, and expiry status. Automatic device-identifier collection is disabled in the app. Payment credentials are handled by Google Play or the Apple App Store; Newsette does not receive your full card or bank details.

Referral program (Android only). When the Android app first opens, it registers the installation with Newsette so invitations can be counted. It sends the app-scoped Android ID, the Google Play install referrer, the app's install and update times, and a Google Play Integrity result. We store a keyed hash of the Android ID, never the raw ID, and we don't keep integrity tokens.

The app keeps a random installation key on your phone and in Google's Block Store backup, so a reinstall can restore your invitation and rewards. A new phone can restore them only when your Google backup is on and the phone supports end-to-end encrypted backup. When you open the invite screen, the app links its RevenueCat subscription record to a random billing ID that we assign, so rewards can be added to it.

We keep qualification and reward history so one installation can't earn twice. An expired reward doesn't make an installation eligible again.

We use service providers only where needed to operate Newsette, including Amazon Web Services for application infrastructure, RevenueCat for subscription management, and Google Play or Apple for app distribution and payments. Their handling of information is also governed by their own privacy policies.

Stories identify and link to the original publisher. Opening such a link takes you to a third-party service whose privacy practices Newsette does not control.

Newsette does not sell personal information, show third-party advertising, or use your reading activity for cross-app behavioural tracking. We retain operational and support information only as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described above, legal obligations, security, and dispute resolution.

We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards, but no internet service can promise absolute security. Newsette is a general-audience news service and is not directed to children under 13.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights concerning information we hold about you. Because Newsette has no reader accounts, we may have little or no information that can be linked back to you. You can ask a privacy question or make a rights request at support@newsette.app.

We may update this policy when Newsette's features, providers, or legal obligations change. We will post the revised policy here and change the date above. Material changes will be highlighted in the app or website when appropriate.
